It came at the expense of Linux drivers in this one particular case, IIRC. The same actually goes to ATI/AMD Linux drivers. Microsoft had companies stressed and distracted, which hurt Linux. I wonder if that was part of the Vista strategy, or just a happy accident (happy for MS, that is) <grin>.

Is this common?
That did it, thanks. Now MCE is asking for a decoder, where can I get the best one? "Lawless" wrote: I have a 550 Pro ATI Tuner but I can't get Vista to recognize it when using Media Center. I contacted the monitor vendor and their response was "we have no Vista driver, the generic pnp driver should work fine". I also tried my wifes EVGA GeForce 7200 PCI-E card and once driver was properly configured I still had the same problem with that card. So I'm thinking about trying an ATI based card next.

One has to wonder if this is why NV can't seem to make a functional Vista driver six months in. The problem with Vista is that the DRM infection mandates that you do not share S/PDIF output over unencrypted links. R600 does this by combining audio and video streams, then pumping them out over HDCP infected links.

I have had the same problems with Battlefield 2142 on Vista Ultimate. I have seen some posts that relate the problem in the games to the frame rate (FPS) that the video card (mine is an ATI x850) is delivering. I have updated the latest Vista video and sound drivers and noticed some improvement.
